Traz Davids – Letting it in

Traz Davids 3D craftmanship in a nutshell!

Second person we had on earlier this week is Traz Davids and our conversation can be here.

Episode 2 – Traz Davids

Traz is an example of passion colliding determination. Traz even if early in his 3D journey, he has created exceptional work which is highlighted at his ArtStation portfolio created in part with Maya Autodesk, Blender and Unity.

A Graduate Bachelor of Creative Technology, Traz is on a journey to grow in the field of 3D animation and dreams of one day being part of an animation studio to contribute and create magic

Featured Works

Shark in a red jacket

An awesome introduction to Traz’s work is one of his recent projects, shark with an awesome red jacket! Press the play button to interact with it. Of course it is in the best default render, the T-pose or Reference pose. A shark with twice the tail, you know you cant go wrong with it. Angry eyes with a well executed cartoon style, it is definitely worthy of being the first one mentioned here

Baby Yoda in all in its glory

This is one of my favourite works from Traz and for good reason. The child and colloquially known as Baby Yoda, was the breakout character for the Star Wars Disney Plus Series The Mandalorian. Small creature but big in personality, this work conveys all these feelings that I got from the first time I saw Baby Yoda on screen. As an added bonus, I appreciate the level of detail on the inner ear as I know colouring of skin tone can be difficult in transitioning between colour pigments.

Teddy Bear – Environmental Asset

A classic take on the Teddy Bear with personality and uniqueness. It quite an interesting work due to its current state of being injured or battered, but, appears to have done the duty of a teddy bear to protect the child. I am quite fond of the texture of the bear as it gives an inviting appearance even in its injured state.

Game Trailer project from University

This is a project awhile back from Traz and his team members during his time at university. There is power in teamwork as Traz and I discussed on the video because there is a level of quality and cohesion that comes when talented people come together to contribute to a final project. Traz contribution are numerous and well executed from concept art, to creating the creatures in Zbrush as well as rigging. A beautiful world easy to be lost in thanks to its stylized art style and soundtrack

Leadership

A big point to take on is to be open to learning…

Traz Davids Episode 2 of To The Sky

Traz is on point when talking about enchaining your craft. As he mentioned, his field of 3D is a large and diverse field with different techniques, tools and approach and there is nothing better being prepared when an opportunity comes and because Traz knows you dont finish studying or learning or enhancing your techniques. Real world working life is being prepared to tackle the unknown and most of the time, it is all about being able to accept that we can learn something new.

That’s a Wrap!

This concludes the second featured person of To the Sky, Traz Davids. An exceptional 3D artist whom I have the pleasure of getting to know during my time at University. Our discussions about freelancing and value of work is a unique and interesting topic that I am sure that you will find insighful.

If you are looking to take a determined 3D modeler and rigger, Traz is available for all form of opportunities, from Freelancing, to internship, contract or full time role.
